Default The latest in a long line of "I don't Believe it" News ...

Take a deep breath and relax before you read this

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4296976.stm

A man who won £7m on Lotto Extra while jailed for rape is to be relocated after being tracked down by the Sun newspaper, the Home Office has said.

Iorworth *****, 52, originally from Leeds, who has reportedly changed his name to Edward Thomas, was spotted walking through Sunderland city centre.

The Sun says a £10,000-a-month Home Office operation has been protecting his identity since his March release.

The Home Office refused to comment on the amount of taxpayers' money spent.

A spokesman told BBC News ***** would continue to be protected from "intrusion" for the foreseeable future.

***** needed protection "for the benefit of society", the spokesman added.

"We are trying to rehabilitate this man into the community. We will have to move him now." But Sun managing editor Graham Dudman told BBC News it was outrageous "the British taxpayer is paying for him to be moved around the country in safe houses... putting somebody up, feeding him... letting him have a television to watch and heating his house while he has got seven million pounds in the bank".

Maxine Carr did not murder anyone. Her crime - for which she has been tried, convicted an punished - was to stuggle to believe the man she loved was a child murderer.

The fact we as taxpayers now need to spend money to protect is her is down soley to the media and the viligante mob rule attitude they encourage in the general public. She herself is NOT a danger to the general public, however it would seem the general public are a real danger to her.

Iorworth ***** should be encouraged to pay a percentage of his own protection costs. Not like he can't afford it !
Maxine Carr should be offered and postively encouraged to leave the country and go and live somewhere else for her own safety and protection of course.

5od it Just give them both a free one way ticket to anywhere in the world and tell them the money would be best spent else and this is the end of your protection!

Spot on!

She was tried and hanged by the media. She may be a silly, deluded cow but that's not a reason to hang her out to dry.

Very well said. The only reason the 'taxpayer' is being forced to pay to protect her anonymity is due to the proportion of 'taxpayers' who want to make her a scapegoat for the evil doings of her former boyfriend.

So how's this going to work then? Do we means-test funding for Police protection?

Well I think theres a reasonable level, we've relocated him once. DONE!!!! no more our responsibility to keep him nice and safe, the guy is a rapist. not like hes being put in Witness protection is it? If hes unsafe int he public eye then keep him locked up. Im sick of seeing our money being pumped into looking after those who dont deserve it, especially since theyre Millionaires too

They're thinking of doing that

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4296976.stm

"Harry Fletcher, the general secretary of probation union Napo, urged ministers to consider means-testing offenders who need supervision and protection. "

ME -

This Government offers no protection to ordinary people from the pervs / nutters they let loose on the streets - why the **** should we pay to protect them from ordinary people ?

Not at all true. There are tons of schemes designed to 'help' released offenders from posing a danger to the public once they are released.

What on earth is the point of courts, prison, rehabilitation, etc. if we are simply going to release people into the hands of revenge obsessed vigilantes who can't accept the fact that our modern society has a criminal justice system?

Thumbs down

The Sun's managing editor Graham Dudman told BBC News it was "outrageous" that the British taxpayer had to pay for ***** to be put up in safe houses and fed when he had £7m in the bank.
Meanwhile New Labour are happy to see pensioners go to prison for non payment of outragously large council (poll) tax demands.

I'm in Southern California ATM and looking at Blair's Britain from the outside I'm in no rush to go back there. What a depressing s**thole they have turned the country into.

The Irony is that "The Sun" hounding this bloke makes him require protection more.

Theres hundreds of convicted rapists in the country. The difference is the tabloids aren't jealous (or dont know if) a rapist has won the lottery.
