Regional Food - suggestions please!
Following on from the Favourite Foods thread - what are the best regional dishes in the UK and where should I go to get them?
I've got just over 2 months left in my current "on the road" job before I settle down in just one place - so what dishes should I be eating when I pay my farewell visits to the following places:
Glasgow
Belfast
Gateshead (there atm - best chips I've found so far! Oh - and pease pudding! YUM!)
Stockport
West Brom
Cardiff
Reading
Walthamstow (some fab looking foods from all around the world, but don't recognise lots of it!)
And where else should I go and for what.....?

Aberdeen - Rowies.
It's a bit like a croissant - but flatter and made of Lard/Butter/Salt (I think).
Loads of butter on top - yummy .
No Good for those on a diet or suffering from heart disease

"Indeed when those who have moved from the area are asked what they miss the most, the answer is often the rowie!"

Walthamstow is easy - Double Pie, Mash and Liquor. Go to Manzes its in the town centre on the street market, up towards the St James rail station, they also serve eels there, but I'd stick to pie and mash.

Glasgow - Smoked sausage supper with cheese :yum:
The only thing missing is the edinburgh salt & sauce instead of vinegar, only good thing about our capital is salt & sauce

Cardiff can offer two options. But first get out and drink loads of Brains Beer, SA or Dark does not really matter.
Then find Caroline Street (Chippy Lane):
1. Clarkes Pie, Curry Sauce and Chips. Clarkes pies are legendary and taste best eaten at 2am in the morning whilst "Brain'd".
2. Chicken Off The Bone, Curry Sauce and Chips. As above but can be called "Chicken Off The Chest" as that's were most ends up.
3. Get up in the morning, go to the Central Market, big old Victorian place, and have 1/2 a pint of fresh cockles with pepper and vinegar. Sorts the men out from the boyo's.
Come and enjoy.

In Belfast it has to be the Ulster Fry, it's like an English Fry but with added soda & potato bread and more likely to give you a coronary. Or you could try Irish stew.
