Need new driving license - how long will it take?
I've realised that my Paper Driving license has vital bits missing and it is in a right state.
I really need a new license to drive in america (flying on the 13th October).. what do you think the chances of it being back in time are if i take everything to the post office tomorrow?
Has anyone ordered a replacement license recently? .. i realise they are going to have to do me a photocard one!

My replacement photcard one took just over a week, however, if it is your first photocard, it will take longer. Have a look on the DVLA website, it may well give you some indication

It usually takes three calendar weeks or 15 working days from the date of receipt of your form at DVLA until your licence arrives.

If your passport is a newer 'digital' type (your signature and photo on same page) you don't need to send it off, just provide the passport number. This also gets around having to get someone to sign the photo.

My boy lost his provisional photocard licence which he needed for his test. Got a new one in about a week - quicker than they were supposed to be. I think you will be OK but use PO check service as suggested. dl
