Don't trust ebay myself, too much of a security risk IMHO, bit like using BBS's

Interesting program though! I've got loads of tat here I could do with getting rid of! Anyone want to buy a SWRT lanyard? Bids starting at £50

I've bought and sold a fair number of items on ebay. IMO it isn't the sellers that are making the the 'money for old rope' but ebay & their sister company paypal - especially if your just dealing in items at around £2ish and below.

Oh and probably the post office!!

E.g. Final Auction Price 99p P&P 80p Total £1.79

Ebay listing fee 15p
Ebay selling fee 5p
Paypal fee 25p
Postage 47p
Total 92p (ebay/paypal 45p, post office 47p)

So it was your item and you get 87p minus your time for taking a pic, placing the itme on ebay, packaging the item (time + cost of materials), trip to post office.

& an added reward of receiving loads of bogus emails claiming to be from ebay & paypal asking for you to verify your account details - which you forward to ebays spoof department and subsequently receive umpteen confirmation emails from them telling you that you were correct & it wasn't a genuine ebay email!!!!!

I used to be a big supporter of ebay but after just receiving a bill from them for £6.56 for three listings of a mobile phone, of which two were twarted by Nigerian pranksters and this was reported to Ebay, I seem to be getting absolutely bloomin' nowhere with them. I resist paying for something that I didn't get.
I am now fast becoming ANTI- Ebay.

Thanks for that Tiggs but........

You will find that there are thousands of items both new & used trading on ebay for £2 & less. Also a few pence profit is better than a full bin.

Selling such items also contributes to the environment by recycling to other people who may have a use for the stuff rather than un-necessarily filling landfill sites

Hence the old saying "from small acorns do large oak trees grow"

Bet you aren't a fan of car boot sales either?

They should recycle it - it's usually only cardboard, wrapping paper & shredded waste paper.

So all round environmentally friendly!!
