Why Can't We Have a National Dinner Break Time ?
Say, 12:30 to 13:00, for those that can't leave the office.
I think a law should be passed where phones cannot be used between these times, unless it's an emergency of course.
I'm trying to enjoy my toastie here but the phone won't stop ringing

Get a cordless phone like I have. Simply press the 'open line' button on the handset at the start of lunch and lay face down on the desk. To the casual observer it's a phone waiting to ring, to a potential caller it's an engaged phone.

The obvious is dont answer the bloody phone.
On another note, a lot of people try and do their "bits an bobs" stuff at lunchtime; and expects no-one else takes a lunch break .
I get hassled a lot during the same time, I dont answer the phone. I get silly Q's at my desk, and just turn round with a mouthful of sarnie. i think they get the point then.

What happens when you want to organise something in the lunch time i.e MOT on your car (as you are supposed to do it outside work time) and they dont answer as they use the same policy!

That's half the trouble with the UK, work, work, work, work harder, use less people more output, more more more, can't leave your desk/whatever, eat sandwich at desk/whatever do work with one hand, eat with the other.... WTF..????!!!
B*ll*x to that.
I say we should have siesta time like the Spanish.
Now that's the way to do it. Less stress, more family time, see loved ones when you're not tired and tetchy = live longer and be happier. Vive la revolution....

My business relies on the telephone - if I don't answer I don't get any business - but it would be nice if everyone decides that we can have a national dinner break. Just half an hour is all I ask !

Just take your phone off the hook, or get another member of staff to say your in a meeting. If its important they'll ring back later.
