What's the law on shooting guns
We seem to have a seriously disturbed lady living in the house backing onto ours, she's clearly gone insane as she stnads in the garden shout some seriously obscene things at the top of her voice, like she's posessed.
Problem has got worse with random gun shot sounds coming from the house, very loud and sometimes in bursts of 4 or so. The last 3 nights it's been going off a 2 - 3 in the in morning
Anyone know what the law is for shooting guns, I guess (hope) it's not real, sounds like a starting pistol but I thought they only fired once before a re-load. I'm on the brink of calling the fuzz, but knowing what they are like we'll have helicopters and full armed response knocking doors down and closing off roads
Anyone got any idea?

If you suspect firearms are involved then call the police. They take an even more dim view of firearms offences than they do of speeding (if that's possible). If it is a real firearm, then the potential for injury or loss of life is serious.

She's obviously unstable aswell lol, I would have called the police long ago, sounds like only a matter of time before she sees herself off or someone else.
Thought owning a gun these days was illegal anyway.
Does she own alot of cats?

I for 1, will emmigrate before I surrender my firearms. I enjoy shooting, I used to shoot for my county as a kid and at 1 point was ranked 125th in the country. At the end of the day guns don't kill, people kill, guns are just tools. If guns do get banned, criminals still ain't going to care, thats already been shown with the pistol ban. Firearms still have a place in animal control.

I just don't agree with them personally. If people want to use them in sport (non killing animals sort) fine but I see no reason why people need to own one. People get killed because there are weapons to kill with, without these weapons, maybe there will be less murder, I know it will never be completely stopped but surely banning weapons will do some good.

Your views are fair enough. But can I ask you to consider this, if they do get banned how will a farmer protect his livestock from preditors? Also there is no supermarket bought meat in my freezer, its all free range. I only shoot for the pot.
I don't need a gun to kill, I have a car (more people die on our roads than get murdered), I have 2 hands and I'm sure I can find a bit of 2x4.

I can see your points Simon, but I still can't help feeling dislike for guns. Fair enough farmers may need them but the average person doesn't, and that's what I'm really talking about.
Taking your view into account, the only people who should have a gun are farmers and police, there is no reason for anyone else to own one.

Safe bra!
back on topic, maybe not such a good idea to be waving a shooter around in todays climate, get yourself a Barnett Diablo & some ball bearings instead.

A Canadian is what you get when you crossbreed Scots with the French.
An American is what you Get when you mix English and Italian blood, then throw in a dash of Paddy for good measure

It would be interesting to see gun crime statistices, i.e. how many licensed firearms owners committed offences, and how many firearms involved in offences were legally bought.

Ok getting silly now but hey ho
I just said I'm against weapons, a computer is not a weapon.
I'm not up for arguing about why I choose to dislike a weapon that kills people. A gun is designed for one thing... to shoot, a TV or a computer is designed for entertainment and work, not to kill. I know some blame their actions on the TV but it is still not a weapon, a gun is, it has one use.

Why silly? My point is that be not allowing anyone but farmers and poice have guns then you are effectively punishing all law abiding firearms owners (and I would wager that nearly 100% of them would never be involved in criminal activity)
The gangs and criminals that do the killing will still get their guns illegally as they do now.
BTW, Terrorists have and do use computers extensively to plan and communicate their activities.

But where is the line drawn? If we say, ok you can have one becuase you are a good boy, it's hard to know where to draw the line.
Like I said before, I know some have blamed computers and TV as influence, but they are not actually weapons.

...and I bet it's not a mechanical linkage between the big red button on Dubya's desk and the blue touchpaper on the nukes etc re computers being weapons
it's the bod behind the trigger / button / steering wheel who potentially does the damage...
