So it's finally happened then.

don't worry though it's going up in the States too. It's $3.00 a gallon now!!! Yep, 1.80p a gallon, and they're not happy.

We're getting robbed blind by taxation

On more then one occasion I have driven out of a garage as I couldn't bring myself to pay the price of petrol.

Wish i had my mates deal. He works in a scrap yard and they drain all the fuel into big drums which he fills his bike from. And with the amount of miles he does I reckon he is saving about £30-£40 a week.

I put £35 in my car the other day, didn't even get up to halfway on the fuel gauge. sob sob. MY fault for just buying a 4.4 V8 with a massive tank

Petrol is going up. It will STAY going up. It's not gonna get cheaper in the long run. there's inflation as well. If you are REALLY affected by this then sell your 20/30mpg car for a 40/50mpg one. The money we pay in tax goes (in theory!) to you and me in the form of more/better public services. Remove fuel tax/duty and the shortfall in public money needs to be made up somewhere or less services. Although IMO better use of CURRENT funds could go a lot further by ironing out govt. inefficiencies etc. but like that's ever gonna happen.

Congestion and environmentally, I think fuel should get to about £1.50 a litre. People will then think about the journeys that they make, car sharing, driving more economically (that DOESN'T necessarily mean slower!). As it stands, on the whole we are all affluent enough to afford £1 a litre and fast cars. 20 years ago we couldn't even despite the fuel costing half what it does now.

Yes it's not 'nice', doesn't mean it's not 'right'.
