Usually you have to order that kind of amount. Give them a ring, have fun with the call centre

Yes, of course they will, it's your money. However, I'd ring them first and tell them that you'll be in at XXXX time to withdraw £6000. They should have no problem with it at all - I've drawn more than that out before. Make sure you take your I.D. with you though.

Personally I'd also arrange to be accompanied by an appropriate person or persons.... especially if it is known in advance that you will be walking out the bank at a specific time with 6 grand in your skyrocket!

As said you need to give them a day or 2 notice if taking out much more than a grand. they wont be impressed if you walked in and asked for it. if anything I think its down to security of counting the cash and opening the safe for that amount.

You can withdraw it from a bank straight away, but they will understandably be a little upset if you don't phone to give them a bit a of notice, a couple of hours say.
Building Societies generally impose a withdrawal restriction of £2-3K without notice, mainly due to there being a need to order the cash in, as there is less retained on site.

If they've got it spare they will be happy to give it to you. Phone the bank 1st as some branches will ave more spare than others. Worst case scenerio is that you'll have to got to a few branches to get what you can from each.
Most car sellers now will not accept a Bankers Draft as cash, due to the number of forged ones that even banks cant spot. You will have to allow a few days to clear.

A call in advance would obviously be courteous but if you have 6k then of course you'll get given it.
My bank manager once arranged for me to pick up £5k from another bank that I was nearer at the time.
When I arrived ( bearing in mind the bank staff had never seen me) they asked me for identification. I turned to my 4 year old daughter at the time and asked her who I was. She replied "My daddy"
It seemed to do the trick amongst the bank staff laughing and I was handed the money.

I generally find that if I wear a balaclava, carry a sawn-off shotgun and shout a lot, I can withdraw as much as I want, whenever I want Watch out for those flip up screens though, they can be a bit of a pain !
