Converting P900 Firmware To P910
A little while back I posted off the back of someone else's thread that I was interested in doing this. However the contact they gave me came to nothing and I am no further forward on this.
Does anyone know someone reliable who can undertake this conversion please? Main reason is to run TomTom Go's P910 implementation of their software.
Just before I jump in I also want to know what the pro's and con's of the conversion might be. I have heard rumours of intereference with Bluetooth functionality, which would be a definite no/no for me, but I need some definitve answers on this from someone in the know, not speculative views.
Any help here would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
WB

Hi,
don't know of anybody that's done this but I do know that it cause problems with Bluetooth - reason being that the Bluetooth stack used in the P910 is different to that of the P900.
Personally, I'd rather get something like an Imate JAM - check it out on www.imate.com - gorgeous bit of kit. All you need is a bluetooth GPS, memory card and the Tom Tom software and you're good to go

TomTom has now been released for the P910i yes according to reports on Esato.

listed on the TomTom site

As for the firmware change it does allow up to 1Gb duo pro cards to be used (maybe above 1Gb). The internal memory however is different. The P900 has 32Mb but the P910i has 64Mb. This is where the Program runs and I'm pretty certain that a P900 with the modified firmware would struggle to run it.
Another point is the BT which would be used with the GPS receiver so that may cause problems as well.
I'd just sell your P900 and pick up a P910 if you can.

I'm keeping mine until the next one is released or something better comes along. the imate looks good but I like having a keypad to be honest. I tend to stick to SE as well.
If I see any info on running TomTom on a P905 I'll post here.
