Default About to buy something on Ebay from the UK

And I live in Germany, the seller has just asked if I would like him to send me a paypal request for payment. Anyone care to explain what that is? Is it an OK way for me to pay?

Very dodgy, try to make him accept beetroot and potatos.

It's fine. You can use PayPal to pay anybody with an email address for anything, anytime.

You'll receive a request stating the amount and you log into your PayPal account and pay it.

When he send the e-mail request, it will give you instructions on how to set up an account if you don't have one. You can then pay the seller with your credit card through paypal.

When you setup your PayPal account one of the things they like to do is verfiy your details. This often entials them sending a small credit payment to the credit card that you register with them. You then tell them how much this was to prove that the card is yours.

All this can take a while unless you have online banking sorted. In short, I would get on with sorting this out, so you do not keep your Seller waiting

Also, some sellers will refuse to send items to you unless your address has been verified with Paypal. I forget how this is done, as I did this years ago (perhaps its all done with the credit card thing above).

EDIT: This had better not be one of your Feejit traps
