Default Anyone got Direct Line house insurance?

Used them last year for first time for house ins (first property). Also both of us have our car ins and recovery policies with them.

Recently had a renewal which is £120 more a year therefore £10 more a month. Equates to about a 33% increase on last years premium.

Rang direct line up and they say the first year is given at a significant discount hence the difference. Sounds like crap to me but they didnt want to budge.

No way Im paying that much more so if they wont drop will go elsewhere.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this treatment?

Cheers,
Simon.

Just left Direct line as the renewal was silly money compared with the first year.

New customers only.

Wasn't direct line, but my first year on the impreza with no no claims was obviously very expensive, elephant were the cheapest by far. Come to renew and am looking forward to using my 1 years no claims to get a marginal discount, it's gone up, "policies have been going up in general, sir"

We were with Direct line for 2 years then the price shot up so we went to Egg.

Just switch companies. We were with Direct Line, then to Tesco and back to Direct Line. Get the new customer discount each time

Was with Direct Line and they do give new customers a 25% discount. However come to renewal went with Frizzel who were £50 odd cheaper a year. Not only that but they have a standard cover amount for both building cost and contents of far in excess of Ditect Lines figures so no worries about being underinsured!
