I bought one in Best Buy on my last trip, it worked very well indeed, took it back using the no quibble return policy as I was heading for the UK and it wouldn't work there. They gave me a funny look and a refund.

Theres loads of people selling the maps on ebay cheaply - quite clearly just copies however.
You can buy the maps from the tomtom.com website, and I think they come on an SD card ready. Other option would be to download the map from a file sharing service like Shareaza and copy it onto an SD card.

Sorry to interfere in your thread but what is the TomTom you have like and have you downloaded 'Speed Cameras' onto it...more importantly did it work. How is it in terms of SatNav (simple for a simpleton). Was it walue for money?

HI mate, okay to be honest I am posting this thread on behalf off my father, never thought I would really want satnav in my own car but since showing me his new toy I am now converted !!
TOM TOM GO 300 - sure he paid around £350
they are known as one off the most user friendly sat navs around,he has downloaded the camera sites and yes can confirm on a recent trip up to aberdeen last week that ever camera ( probably in excess off 20 off them ) were spotted.
to be honest would not even think about purchasing Road angel or any of the other gps camera detectors now that sat navs can be programmed to detected camera sites, the monthly downloads are completely free are as far as I am aware very accurate and you get sat navigation thrown in all for under the cost off the road angel itself never mind the monthly / yearly subs !!
if I can be off any more help please just ask and if I dont know the answer will ask him for you, but yes can confirm the TOM TOM series off units are very, very good !!!
cheers,
john
