You want a bullet camera (if you're Camcorder has AV in that is?). That way you can mount the bullet cam whereever you like on the car whilst the camcorder is safe in your car.

the camera won't get damaged by normal trackday use, and these mounts are strong enough that they'd prolly take a bit of an accident ok too....
I've got the SM1 mount, mate has the twin cup model, both been fine.
Bullet cam does seem the best bet tho, I'll get one when i can justify it.

Hague is the daddy for sure. I have had a couple of moments in my car with mine fitted and its never been an issue. They are supposed to stick for 1/2 hour without re-pumping I think but I have left mine for a couple of hours without problem before (forgot it was there).
Oh and RFconcepts for bullet cam if you want to approach things from a different angle.

I had the bullet cam first hence I've never had to 'risk' mounting the camcorder directly onto the mount.
One thing about doing so, what happens to the audio? surely all you'd get is wind noise?

The video camera attached to the Hague mount gives better results than a bullet cam, the image is clearer for sure.
Bullet cams are great for covert videoing when your not really allowed or for different views like bumber can and rear spoiler cam.
Audio is the same as they both have microphones.

We have never had a problem with our camera mount or camera. We have one from Hague and it's been fantastic. It gets used at all trackdays/combe events.
We also have a bumper cam and we think the quality is pretty good for such a little thing.
