Some @RSE smashed my Impreza up and drove off!
Got to my car this morning, parked in my usual bay, residents on street in Hampstead. Narrow street, and you see the odd w@nker in his boxster tearing up a residential street at 50, but plenty of room for traffic.
Anyway, pull away and hear a flat, so get out, go to passenger side, to see my rear bumper hanging off, the back door and all panels are phucked, huge, literally several feet long dents and scratches, inches wide and deep! The best bit is the alloy is actually cracked, with an inch wide chunk missing out of it, and is flared and looks like an empty bean can that has been squashed!
Livid!
No notes, nothing! Un-feckin-believable!
I'm going to spend my evenings sitting there until I spot a red lorry / van covered in green paint!
Amazes me how someone can cause so much damage to a car that is clearly very well looked after, and then shrug and drive off!

I personally wouldn't do it, but if someone had seen the damage they'd caused they probably realise how much it'd cost to repair so they leg it - it's dispicable really!

I had it done to my car too so know how you feel, albeit the damage wasn't as bad as yours sounds but it's still maddening
I spent the next week or so looking for evidence on any other vehicle that came into my street.

Probably someone who isn't insured (my big gripe at the moment - my mate got hit by a guy who turned out to have no insurance - wrote his car off ) either that or someone in the works van who would have to pay for it.
Annoys the he!! out of me when people do that.
Droped you a PM btw it's a slim chance but.

Apparently there is a lot of damage to the suspension. I spoke to the mechanic yesterday, and he asked me if I was looking to have it written off, after I asked if it was going to be repaired. It's a 1998 Turbo, 70,000 miles in exc condtn bar a few bumper marks (and half the back hanging off now!) The thing is I was looking to sell it next month, probably looking about £5 - £5.5k. Would anyone have any idea how the insurance company would value it if written off, please?

That really sucks Insurance company - if they decide to write it off, will give you a figure, based on likely replacement value. It goes without saying that you don't accept their first offer - so be prepared to fight. Also - you don't need to use their repairers - take it to a garage of your choice and have the damaged assessed.

It happened to me about 10 years ago. Some b@stard, probably drunk (10:30pm on a Sunday night), hit the side of my parked car and just drove off. My neighbour heard the bang and came and told me straight away. Two new doors needed. I was livid. I'd only had the car about a month. Took the next day as holiday and just spent it driving around looking for this other car... good job for them I never found them. I was TPF&T, which isn't much use if the 3rd Party does a runner. Always had protected fully comp since.
