These people are supposed to understand the issues...
It makes you wonder seriously about the competence of those at the helm of government when Home Office Minister Hazel Blears make statements such as this:
Of all things they should at least be able to make a distinction between race and religion. Their stupidity is simply beathtaking.

Police should not use racial profiling in their efforts to prevent further terror attacks on London, Home Office Minister Hazel Blears has said.
She said people should not be stopped and searched just because they were Muslim, but based on intelligence.

While I understand where you are coming from Bravo, why not? You can't tell(unless they are wearing traditional dress) what religion they would be.
Look at the eastern european countries, plenty of caucasian muslims.
Thats the point UB is trying to make, Islam is a race independent religion, as are most!

Then again an 80 year old suicide bomber doesn't really need much motivation, its pretty much time to die anyway. What with a large wheeled container perfect to carry a bomb, that blue rinsed granny could be the perfect profile...

Have to agree though Blears comes across as yet another self-serving New Labour career politician with little idea of what she is supposed to be doing.

Love the bit where they are just walking down the street pushing people out of the way
(Sketch opens with a pan across Bolton. Voice of reporter.)
Voice Over: This is a frightened city. Over these houses, over these streets hangs a pall of fear. Fear of a new kind of violence which is terrorizing the city. Yes, gangs of old ladies attacking defenceless fit young men.
(Film of old ladies beating up two young men; then several grannies walking aggressively along street, pushing passers-by aside.)
First Young Man: Well they come up to you, like, and push you - shove you off the pavement, like. There's usually four or five of them.
Second Young Man: Yeah, this used to be a nice neighbourhood before the old ladies started moving in. Nowadays some of us daren't even go down to the shops.
Third Young Man: Well Mr Johnson's son Kevin, he don't go out any more. He comes back from wrestling and locks himself in his room.
(Film of grannies harrassing an attractive girl.)

Yup. Got the impression she'd never been out on her own

They are all like that SH Jack, all jumping up and down to further themselves and they will say whatever they need to at the time to achieve that. They must have a special Thesaurus which is full of PC only phrases.
I personally think that stopping a person by the police purely because he looks Islamic and nothing else would be a seriously bad policy and would cause even more racial unrest in this country. This feeling stems from common sense rather than any other reason.
