Which Air Rifle?
Hello
It's been a long time since I had an air-rifle. Since I was a child in fact, which is, oh, a long time! Things seem to have moved on considerably, as my rifle back then was a break barrel .22 something that I remember changing the spring on for some high powered German one.
I am looking for a simple rifle, that preferably has a multi-load facility, is as powerful as possible and isn't that expensive (< £130). It can fire whatever, but as I seem to have a surplus of BB's from the States (that don't fit my Anics 3000), then that would be preferable.
I have looked at the Crosman 2100B (but each set of pumps only fires one pellet, is that right?), and the Crosman 1077 (that looks okay).
Thanks,
Steve

Weinrach [spelling ??] my mate used to have one of those, not sure if the HW90 was about [20 yrs ago] but they were awesome. Consistent at 750 ft/sec [12 ft/lb which I think is the elgal limit, though haven't spent much time catching up]
So buy German....
BSA if there still about or Webley - I still own a Webley Vulcan superb piece of kit if not a little creaky now.

This reminds me of when I were a lad. I had a pneumatic Sharps Innova which had the bleed-off valve brazed up. If you were man enough you could get over 20 ft.lbs out of it (and if you had the patience to pump the b*stard thing 12 times...)
I have to make do with 10 ft.lbs in a CO2 powered Crossman now, but its more than enough to see off feral pigeons and the odd rat.
By limiting your budget to £130 or less its going to be difficult to get a powerful accurate and consistant rifle. Id suggest looking at Theobens website and picking a good clean used rifle for which they supply a gas strut conversion. You can pick up a used Webley Vulcan or BSA Super Meteor for next to nothing, Id go for the BSA because itll sell for less, but itll be equal when converted... Easily within budget.

Have a BSA Super sport with Hawke 9 x 40 scope which I use at weekends ( I work away!) and had to use it for rats yesterday! During week I've a Webley Exocet s with Hawke 10 x 40. Both are full powered, accurate and ideal for plinking, targets and hunting. I'd recommend either!

In the manual it says to fill bottle slowly rather than quick
And make sure seals are greased and changed when required
if you stick to these 2 rules you should have no problem there is nothing else to go wrong

Have a Logan S16 myself. Heard about stories with the air seal on the cannister, but I've had no issues with mine.
Oh and I don't shoot helpless, cuddly woodland animals either
