Wedding Photographer....cost reasonable.
Had a meeting last night with a photographer to discuss what my girlfriend and I want for our wedding, had a look over some albums and really liked what we saw.
However i was a bit shocked with the cost involved in this; for a package of 30 pics in an album with a mixture of colour, black & white and sepia staged and reportage style pics their asking for around £1200-£1500.
Is this normal.....??
Or has my girlfriend in her wisdom managed to locate an especially expensive photographer

We paid 1600 quid ish for the package and had a few more which bumped it up further, and the album was absolutely amazing. The photographer was Simon Kemp from Hyde End Studios in Shinfield, Berks.
In my opinion (and seeing friends photos who used budget photographers) you really do get what you pay for.

Heres a link to the photographers website http://www.finelines.co.uk/wedindex2.htm
Were hoping to get some shots on the same beach as is shown on the right, as our venue is only 2 miles up the road from Elie in Fife where the pics were taken.
I reckon that I should possibly just take the hit and go for it and hope that Druddle is right!!

The photography alone for ours is about £250....that means u get a cd with all of the pics taken (loads).
You then choose the album you want and pay for that on top...ranges from £600 to lots depending on the album you choose....

Lawson - ask to see a sample or previous album or ask to get in contact with a previous customer whose wedding album he did. Does he just print the pics one by one or does he design the album using all the pics he has ? Thats what our guy did. Have a look at www.hyde-end.com and the weddings and online proofing sections.
Read this bit that he wrote for a local paper (Reading Chronicle) and remember see at least 3 photographers before you pick the one you will go with.

Wow. It just reminds me how lucky we were with ours. A friend at work offered to do ours for us (recipe for disaster you would think...) He's now a professional Wedding Photographer and charged us... wait for it.... a grand total of £150 for ALL the photos taken AND the negatives AND a second set. (75 photos taken in total by the way) It took us AGES to pick the best ones out!

what sort of photo albums you looking for (seeing as I make them
you will see probably 3 types out there at the moment,
1) albums with cheap italian interiors stuck inside. (thin cream paper / card with glascine paper leaves)
2) albums with plastic peel back pages ......
3) hand bound albums, in a leather cover.
We make no 3 Traditional photograph albums.
I also have the details of a photographer we make albums for - i will dig his details out monday and post for you.
If anyone wants details, pm me.

Ours cost £695 for the supreme package which includes photography at the ceremony & reception and a choice of 24 pages of 8x6 or 2 informal 5x4 photographs in a fully book bound Elizibethan album.
That wasn't a bad deal we thought and the photographer was something else he had such strange and artistic ideas that I wouldn't have even thought of and made the event fun He used a very high quality Digital camera (Same as AndyC772) Can't remember the one and was showing us the photos as he went along Something I've not seen before. He's an ex BBC journalist and his day job is taking photos for motorbike magazines so he knows his stuff. I'd recommend him to anyone localish (he does travel I believe though)

Ours were just over £2000 for 2 photographers a 2ftx2ft hand made leather album with 120 pics plus a cd with 500+ other pictures taken. They started at 11am and left at 11pm (included a studio set-up at the reception). It took nearly 3 months for the album but the pictures are excellent.
I believe they charge £3500ish for the package now and are fully booked!
