What does 'B&Q' stand for?
Following on from a conversation with my 8 year old daugher..... "I am a Dad its my job to know everything" I said. "OK then, what does B&Q stand for?"
Ballox I thought to myself. I guessed at 'Bulk & Quality' but have no idea really.

The theory being that the majority of their goods are quick to use/assemble. Well that was the theory back then when I worked for them whilst doing GCSEs!

MFI, Noel Lister and Donald Searle founded MFI as Mullard Furniture Industries. Both men had been buying and selling government surplus stock after the 2nd World War and often met at auctions. They joined forces, based themselves in Edgware, North London, and used the maiden name of Donald Searle's wife for the company name.
