Banks - putting money in.......
A long story, but basically I have an account for a sports club which is set up for charity. We make money by selling tea/coffee/raffles etc on various occasions. Most of the money collected is therefore in loose change.
Every now and then I go to the bank with about £30 in change to put in the account. All the money is separated (i.e. a bag of 1's, bag of 2's bag of 5's etc). There has never been a problem up until recently when the bank are now insisting on the bags being complete - e.g. £5 of 5p's.
My argument is - why should I have to do that? They have a couple of machines by the cashier which the bags are emptied into and it gives the value of cash; even if I had a complete bag it surely will be checked anyway. They suggested that I go to ASDA and use there counting machine - but I pointed that ASDA will take their cut and it’s for a charity account.
Any thoughts...?

They do it cause they wont want to put a half empty/full bag into the safe... they'll want to keep them all full....
Ive found alot of banks now are only taking 3 or 4 bags of change at any one time now... thats wrong

Yes tell your bank to stop giving you cr4p and take YOUR money and start putting it into YOUR account. Its the cashier just giving you grief because they think they can get away with it. Try asking them where it states in the terms of your bank account where you have to pay money in in certain ways such as complete bags of 5p's!

my opinion is that money is money whatever denomination it is... i think banks should accept it but they probably dont !
Imagine walking in with 1 million one pound coins, would they let you open an account?? or tell ya to **** off cos its small change !
