Watch for the initial excess on treatment - most private health policies only kick in once you've been referred by your GP. That said I'm with BUPA and the one time I've had to use them they've been excellent...

BUPA Company Care Gold (or whatever it is now called) + the "personal"equivalent cover all pre and post op fees.
Some policies will/may have restrictions on what they will and will not pay for and also how much they will and will not pay for.
My understanding is that a Key Features document is available from Private Health companies BUPA/WPA/UNUM/Norwich Union etc which clearly state what they are offering.
PS We have had a BUPA scheme for 20 years and found BUPA to be excellent.
PPS No such thing as cheap insurance.
