bee nest removal ???
Help, whilst sitting in the front garden enjoying this ulta fine weather noticed a few bees flying about which I never thought anymore about until I noticed that they kept heading to where the outside gas meter was located.
seems they are entering a hole where the gas pipe from this box enters the house, the hole for this gas pipe has been cut bigger than the actual pipe diam. and there is enough space for them to get down this sides.
so okay this pipe obviously goes into the house under floor board level, just wondering how to go about getting rid off the bees ??
1/ seal up hole with expanding foam ?? will they find another exit ?? die off ??
2/ is there anything that can be bought that I could put down the sides off this entrance to try kill them ( smoke bomb type thing ?? ) bearing in mind it is a gas pipe where they are entering is this a good idea ??!!! would obviously be a big area under the house for anything like this to work rather than just smoke bombing a small area.
3/ have thought about phoning the council to get them to come out but being a private house would probably cost a good bit for them to do it, just wonder if it is a job I can do myself ??
4/ lastly !!! leave it and wait until end off the season when they have died off and then shove a bit off cement over the hole to stop them comming back and setting up camp next year ??!!!
cheers !!!

Friend just had a bees nest removed from his garage. They made the buggers sleepy, then removed the entire nest to "re-house" them. I kid you not!
He just called a pest control company. Cost him £50.

dont seal it up...... yet...
if you do, they will find an alternate way out!!!
call the council, they will deal with it for a fee...
all they do is spray poison powder around, and leave them within 48 hrs they will be no more...
then leave hole until the winter, then seal
mart

Instead of killing them off why not contact the local bee keeper for advice he might come and take them for you !
Don't forget bees are on our side not like the fooking jaspers!
Just my thoughts

Depending how accessable they are a beekeeper may be able to take them away and re-house them. Even if they're inaccessable sometimes putting a nice empty hive full of fresh honeycombs will draw them out as they figure it's a nicer place to live.
Local police stations usually have a list of beekeepers in the area who do swarm calls.
