Default Hedges

We have a reasonably large garden and I want to section a piece of it off to keep a couple of sheds, incinerator, compost heap in, dont want to put a fence in so would rather create a natrual hedge, we have a privet hedge down one side but want something different, the wife doesnt like conifers so am after something to create a hedge about 15 feet long that grows reasonably quickly and is dense enough to disguise sheds and stuff.

So, any suggestions for what kind of plant I am looking at, I am fairly useless on plants and gardening hence the question !

Leylandii. Grows quickly and will form a very dense hedge if you want that. Just have to keep it under control and at the height you want eventually.

I used to have a Hornbeam hedge. It'll take a few years to get established, but once it there it is pretty easy to maintain.

don't plant leylandii - they are the scum of the plant world.

There are many evergreen alternatives: pyracantha grows quickly and makes a good, defensive hedge. If you don't want thorns, box can be quite attractive.
