What is there to do apart from travel around on the boat (slowly) and fish.

All the holiday sites seem to concentrate on what to do in the major cities/areas near the broads

Cheers

Yes, but not on a boat. Lots of nice little villages and pubs. A few National Trust places around.

Load boat with beer, food, bbq, and fishing gear. Motor off to a nice tranquil spot for the afternoon / evening, moor up, light bbq, drink beer, bbq food, make half arsed attempt to catch some fish, drink more beer and enjoy the surrounding countryside and wildlife. Pleasent nights sleep comforted by the sound of water lapping against the boat, wake up, make massive fry up and then repeat as per previous day. Also stop at one of the many nice pubs on the broads for a nice lunch and a few beers.

As above really. Very relaing very chilled. You can also just moor up and go for a nice walk. G&Ts on deck at sunset etc.

Funny thing is after doing this for a week, driving back home is like driving at warp speed.

Cheers

I didn't like it much myself, and got bored with it pretty quickly (I'm more of a mountain terrain bloke eg NW Scotland, N. Wales etc ), but there's a lot of nice villages and pubs. Not sure how easy they'd be to get to from a boat though...

I have had a week on the broads, but I found a week on the Avon much better, better fishing aswell I found. Catch bits more or less anywhere ( live bait ), lost a couple of nice lumps, probably carp, and night time is easy peasy eel bashing. Best fish was an 18lb pike. There are some fantastic places along the way, tewksbury was nice on the river as I remember. The river locks are pretty cool, think BIG

I found the broads to be a bit "samey" by comparison.
