It serves a dual purpose though - It puts the ****s up people and serves to remind them how much danger we are all in from imminent terrorist attck.

9 x Hawks - otherwise known as The Red Arrows. It was just on the news and for the reasons as mentioned above. They also flew over my mum & dad's house on their way back home to Scampton presumably. I love the Red Arrows

I spent the day with the Reds at Scampton last year, sat in on the mission briefing, watched the practice displays from the datum point - pretty awesome stuff. Totally amazing at what top guys they were, very down to earth, ordinary blokes

I saw the whole red arrows squadron in formation taxiing behind our plane as we took of from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, that was an impressive sight.

She was flying at Waddington Airshow this weekend. I believe Richard Branson paid the insurance

I am so deeply, deeply jealous of you. In fact I've now joined their fan club - my turn next Btw, you're not on that lesser frequented war plane forum are you?

Was that this year? Btw, I've seen them five times this year already so nur One of those occasions was a super sneaky practice session over at RAF Linton-on-Ouse where they were flying straight over our heads which was very, very cool

Actually make that six times as we saw one practising at Scampton on Friday

You did? In the back of one of the Reds or in another plane as part of the display?

Does this mean that there's hope for me yet?

They're practising for flying low-level over Edinburgh, so GWB dives for cover at a crucial point in the negotiations

ScoobyChick, I was in Red Ten, flying alongside the nine so I could take photographs of the display for a magazine article. They do this quite a lot in practise routines and if you can convince them that giving you a ride will majorly benefit the Reds or RAF, you're in with a chance. Any passengers in a real display will be very well known to the squadron and 100% trusted not to thow up or pull the ejector handle by mistake

Fantastic day, an experience you just cannot buy. But if invited again, I'd decline. Big g and a spinning horizon is actually very unpleasant. How I didn't puke I'll never know. Wimp or what!

Richard.

A B-17 new EU rules put her in the same weight class as a passenger jet, making her insurance costs £22000 a year. Being run by a charity the new insurance costs made her too expensive to fly

And the American rebels couldnt beat us either.... It was the b*stard French that swung it for them. Still we got the better of the cheese-eating-surrender-monkeys a few years later.
