Top Gear is just excellent IMHO Its funny, interesting, informative and most of all its from a real man/petrolhead perspective. Clarkson is easily one of my favourite celebs and is by far the guy I'd like to buy a pint in a quiet rural scottish pub and chat to. Some find him annoying - I find him genuine.

How unreal did the DBR9 sound??
I have proper lust for that car
one day.

I will drive it.*
(*a big gun, Dr.Bez and a winning smile should do the trick )

Good show. Wasnt too sure about the merc - strange look to and the sound was ok from inside but not on the drive-bys.
The Aston sounded sweet. Shame they didnt try the road going version for comparison.
Glad they didnt make the raco to Oslo another photo finish as that would have been a step too far IMHO.
Shame I missed last weeks with Damon Hill - forgot to set series link on sky +
Simon.

I'm sorry to have to admit, but I know that Asian guy who said that a Mondeo is the best looking car ever Silly sod
Impressive as the racing car was, why did they not test the road going DB9 special Not that I didn't enjoy the spectacle

The aston was the bollocks, nowhere near enough footage of it.
That merc is just wrong IMO, I could find better ways to spend 320k than on that fugly thing.
Good show, the race to Oslo was excellent viewing, those three guys work together very well, May just takes the **** out of being a stiff, he is very dry.

What's strange is that my jaw nearly dropped out of it's sockets when I saw a McLaren SLR go past me in Reading yesterday, only to see that it was exactly the one on today's show "X55 SLR" - how strange is that!

OK, you got me, the Mondeo is clearly the better looking car
If anyone seriously believes that, I'll happily pay for their eye test

Nice car, had an Alfa once (doesn't everyone?) - what a pain in the ar*e.
Was off the road for 6 weeks because I used the brakes - blew the bulb and fused the electrics.
Glorious to look at and great sounds, never agin thank you!

Now there's a driving holiday I quite fancy. Ferry to Norway and drive back via the tunnel. Some of that scenery was fantastic - that Danish bridge was spectacular.
I, also, didn't like the Alfa much - although the front was quite nice and reminiscent of that SZ car they did years ago.

If it is a genuine race (no one believes this do they?)- how come the film crew are always in the right place at the right time filming external shots of the car driving past.
Must have been great timing with the helicopter filming the car on the bridge too.

Maybe they do all that type of filming with the car on the way back?

Each has a "chase" vehicle - the boat that Hammy & May got in after after the engine blew on the powerboat was theirs. IIRC Clarkson had a Range Rover after him (or thats what he had on the Verbier (skiing) Race.

....so the range rover must have gone ahead of the SLR, stopped, did some filming, overtook him, and filmed him again. There were a fair few static camera shots.

He must have been going "well fast" for a camera crew to have time to pack up all there kit and overtake him, then have time to set up again before he comes past again!
