Default Nitro R/C car advice

Hello,

Haven't run my RC car since i ripped the tyres off their rims about 5 months ago.

Gonna get them all sorted so I can take it on hols with me (excellent beach fun last year ). Will i need to take account of anything (engine etc)?

Andy

Yes. Don't run it on the sand. Even if the air filter doesn't pop off to let sand into the engine then it'll get into the wheel bearings and the trasmission all too easily. It ain't worth the risk really...

I've got a fuel filter and oiled airfilter - it was just fine last time. If it dies from sand it dies. Rarely gets used the rest of the year so it's not a biggy!

That aside, is it ok just start it up and off I go now?

Well if you've got those two filters and as you say you don't care about the rest of it then go for your life and run it... Should be ok...ish I suppose.

Watch out for children and pets.

I've just re-read my original post. My question wasn't fully clear. I'm wondering whether after laying dormant for 5months i need to do anything with the engine etc...

Was excellent fun on the beach last time. Go down when people have gone home for their tea and do massive jumps off the sandcastles

After 5 months you may find it a little tight with congealed oil but other than that I wouldn't worry. You'll probably find the glow plug won't last 2 minutes though so take a few spares.

If mine has not been run for some time I just loosen the glow plug, squirt some fuel in the carb and turn the motor over by hand. I do this to make sure the little devil aint seized up. Even with after run oil it sometimes gets a little tight.

Cheers guys.

I'll nip up the model shop tomorrow and get some more glowplugs - need a new fuel bottle anyway.
