Come on Marc; even the people in the crowd dont look as though they can be arsed. Look at the crowd when peoploe are performing, virtually everyone is stood still. Live Aid was very very different. This is to Live Aid what Band Aid 2004 was to Band Aid.....

The problem is that the real fans are penned back about half a mile from the stage. The area in front is reserved for the friends of friends, politically correct hangers on etc. Very poor.

I dont agree with all youre saying, I didnt like Coldplay. I think U2 rocked as did Elton before Pete came on!!! and Stereophonics are working the crowd now. I kind of know what youre saying though, the music scene isnt the same as it was in the mid 80s. IMO there isnt any bands around such as Queen now that people really get excited about.

I agree; Ive been thinking about this, after twenty years its easy to forget about some of the terrible performances too; who remembers Adam Ant...? Only giving performers 10 minutes spoils it too, I think that you could do a lot more in 15 minutes. As with Band Aid 2004, so many people want to be involved this time (no one wanted to do Live Aid initially apart from Dire Straights, it was Bob Geldofs brinkmanship that carried it off) there isnt enough time to go around... I suspect that a lot of people are performing principally because of, or at least with an eye on, the affect itll have on their careers.....

The concert itself is probably pretty good, but Im not so sure about the cause.

Seems a bit odd to hear the millionaire artists talking about helping Africa etc "oh theyre so poor and starving, we must help them - FFS wheres my limo?" etc

And how will they spend the money raised? Africa is so corrupt that a significant amount of 'aid' money wont be spent on aid at all. The money would be better spent overthrowing Mugabe IMO

Pete,Jeremy Clarkson got it right by saying even if youre cynical, doing something always has to be better than doing nothing.

They're not raising money tho, they want the G8 to end third world debt or something like that. But I understand where you're coming from.

just switched the tv on, actually it does look a bit "dead"

bit like at the end of the night in a club when everybodys just looking at each other lol

send a few streakers onto the stage, that will liven the thing up

That was what prompted me to start the thread; mostly theyre standing still..... The sets are definately too short as well; 10 minutes jsut isnt long enough.
