The Lord Of The Rings : Extended Box Set
Having finally seen The Return Of The King last sat ive decided to buy the 12 disc extended versions box set.
The silly thing is though i only liked half of The Two Towers and half of Return Of The King lol!!!! Im thinking repeated viewings will change this view!
How much better are the extended versions and do they offer a better viewing experience or do they make the films drag on a bit?!

I saw the cinema version of the first film and hated it, so did not see the other two.
About a month ago I watched the extend version of the two towers and thought it was amazing... you get soo much more in the extended version. I even watched it with the director comentry, and it is amazing how many of what appear to be key scenes are not in the cinema cuts... I am putting this down to why I did not like the first film. When work calms down I will be watching the extended fellowship, and then the extended return of the king...
Well worth it in my opinion!!

I've got the extended edition set. I've seen TFOTR and TTT and the extended versions are worth watching, there are a few rather good editions. One of my friends here has seen them all and heartily recommends the extended version of ROTK, which I'll get round to watching at some point.
I'm not overly interested in the documentaries, but it's nice to have them all the same.

The split point (swap discs over) on ROTK is terrible - when disc 2 starts you can still here the end of the soundtrack from disc 1.
I think Fellowship has the most noticable extra scenes - although the vanilla version of ROTK did need more of Sam & Frodo making their way across Mordor.
Hasn'r Peter Jackson also dais that he'll also do an even longer version some day? Hopefully on Blu-ray so I don't have to get up a change discs - I mean once in 4 hours is taking the p!ss.

PJ has stated that the extended DVD editions are the final directors cuts of the films, and that if they do anything for the Blu-Ray releases it will be minor amendments, such as the first views of Gollum in FOTR which bear little relation to his appearance in TTT and ROTK.
