Ok as per title really. A bit of light discussion.
Where I work there is a staff canteen. I felt banging and the floor move in the server room and thought WTF ?
After some sluthing I have discovered the banging is the factory workers rocking the vending machine to get free choc/chrisps etc. Now its petty theft I know. Its happening every day btw
I just dont know if its worth reporting it (without mentioning names) because I dont want to grass anyone up but at the end of the day it is still stealing *and it aint doing my servers any good either)

Are they robbing it, or is it like our vending machine? 60% of the time the stuff doesn't vend it just jams on the edge, at which point a good bump will set it free.

Aren't vending machines owned by outside contractors, therefore no profit to your company ?
Best to stay out of it IMO.
Also make sure they have enough to go around.

If the vending machine is owned and run by a outside contractor, then its possible that the person employed by the contractors to refill it, could be accused of theft and lose their job.
If the takings from the machine don't tally with the goods put in each day, someone will be being asked why not.
So your theiving workmates? could get someone on £5 Per hour sacked for doing nothing wrong.
Do you feel that is OK?
I don't.
Just viewing it from a different perspective.
Cheers

MTR. I agree with what your saying, tbh the warehouse guys are treated like **** by management just because they are blue collar guys. It sucks tbh.
Even if I had of reported it, no names would have been mentioned. However theft is theft !

just put a sign up on the machine saying "I am being stolen from. Covert webcam with live netcast now in operation P.S. its not where you think it is "
Either that or wire up the metal frame they use to rock the machine to the mains.
astraboy.

They are amateurs, I used to have a ''Kit Kat key'' ...long piece of strategically bent wire which could hook the kit kats off the top shelf a treat ....... call it petty theft or inginuity?

I was a Warehouse Manager and caught 2 guys different dept doing this
They didn't realise I was still there it was late and could see that no money had gone in to the machine
Crept up behind them and in a loud voice asked if the machine was playing up
Both went red as beetroot's and lied saying yes we put money in
I said ok no problem I'll put a notice on the machine do not use and wait for the vendor to come in a check
Emailed facilities dept telling them the whole scenario
Guy turned up the next afternoon and moved machine to a different area between a wall and a coffee machine
So would be hard to shake etc
Sorted the 2 guys got a warning from HR
YES I gave names 2 office staff

One of the lads where I had a summer job used to do this, and boast about it, One day he got cocky and did it too far, the machine moved back on it's feet, and on it's way back down, knocked a water pipe off the wall, floods and massive fountain of water hahahah classic!!

Is there not a web address or email address on the machine somewhere? couldn't you email the owners (from home), and just suggest they take a closer look at the balance of monies re that machine? Nicking is nicking, whether its a paper clip or the crown jewels.
