Default Why should a lap dancer.......

Be treated as a second class citizen?
I am of course referring to the current case of the Dutch footie player being accused of raping a young woman in an hotel room.
Today's paper cites the fact that he is now calling her a lap dancer "in order to discredit her character". (She's a beauty queen by all accounts).
My gripe is, if a girl chooses to be a lap dancer, does that make her a tart? Is she more inclined to "put it about" than , say, a secretary or a shop assistant, or maybe a receptionist?
I met a lap dancer 2 weeks ago, a nicer person you couldn't wish to meet. She had her head screwed on and was interesting to talk to. It was fascinating talking to her about her job. And looking at things from her perspective makes this claim by this footie player look a total joke.

No doubt this thread will attract the numbheads on here. Some will have a poke at what I've written above. But this is a serious question. I'd be grateful for feedback...... its got to be better than mowing the lawn in this hot weather. !
Cheers Yve

I havent heard the story on the news, but it sounds to me like yet another case of rich people thinking they can do what the hell they like, then use money /influence to get away with it.

Met a girl while in Ireland who was a lap dancer, lovely girl who had a degree!! But simply earnt more money taking money off old men wearing long coats. Spent two days with her and they were two very good days, but thats another story

Must watch the news more, but hey who needs the news when you got scoobynet

Lap dancers and other categories of women who expose their bodies to earn a living will always be treated as cheap or tarty due to the fact that men think more with their little heads than they do with their big heads.

It's unfair and not true in the slightest but unfortunately, that's life as we know it.

I read recently that 25% of British females aspire to be lapdancers. (Seriously)

I'm not doubting that statistic but my guess would have been a heck of a lot higher!!

With all the right attributes, what an amazing way to earn money...and women know it!
Don't make the mistake of thinking that all women in the lap dancing type industry feel used/abused

No, in the UK every lap dancer I have met is very assertive and positive about their choice of work.

The used/abused argument is put forward by the moral minority who are usually ugly and jealous

Is this the same crowd that comes up with expressions like "beauty comes from within" ?

Good luck to a woman who can get a man to pay her to just look!

There is always a no touching policy in decent places and the women get to have a laugh at the stupid men who think they have pulled because she offers them a dance!

I hope justice is done and if he did rape her i hope his wife chops his winky off

I've always though that being a **** star would be a great job especially if I was one of the rare male stars that made quite a bit of money for it. However, when you consider what a **** star, nude model, lapdancer, etc (whether male or female) is you can be left with no doubt that all they do is sell an item or service which in this case is the body, dances or sex.

The fact its for 'money' somehow seems to make it more bearable in peoples eyes but never forget what in economic terms money is. It's simply a medium of exchange that everything can be valued against to save us figuring out how tins of beans you should trade for a TD05 turbo. When you consider that essentially a lapdancer is selling her body (being one of the only things in life unique to her) in exchange for clothes, baked beans, bread, booze, toothbrushes, nights out, a roof over her head, etc it seems a little more desparate IMHO. That these activities can take place in classy joint in exchange for nice crispy notes is little different from a skank on the street offering to s*ck your little man for an evening meal.

There are better choices in life for truely intelligent people and I'd say that any intelligent person that chooses to sell their body doesn't have much respect for it (IMHO). As much as I'd love some of the aspects of being a **** star I'd rather I eat at night because I flipped burgers than because of the performance of my *******. That pornstars/lapdances/pro's make lots of money is not a reasoned justification - life is about more than money

I'd say that someone who has a great body probably has a lot of respect for it in the way that they work out etc to make sure they stay in good shape.

I see nothing wrong if someone wants to strip, lap dance or even ****. I dont think it means someone is not intelligent or doesnt have respect for themselves.

If it is easy money and they have no problem with it then fine.

I think that unfortunately people are too judgemental nowadays, or maybe it is just jealousy!

On the other side tho, i wouldnt want my boyfriend to be a **** star any where but the comfort of our home and with onlly me

Apart from the fact that that the offender obviously thought he was important enough to do just what he liked despite what anyone else thought, it may also be partly down to the fact that by virtue of her job, the lap dancer may well give the impression that she is prepared to "put it about" even though she isn't.

Glad our lawn is only 9 feet square!

I think the everyday supermodels, etc are selling something they shouldn't either. Maybe I'm old fashioned but my body is for me and the people I chose to share it with. Somethings in life are just not for sale IMHO.

Im afraid thats life, there are a lot of women that give the impression they are "up for it" when in reality they are just having a laugh and trying to score a few drinks.

That still gives no one the right to force themselves on them.

LOL Les..........
On another note, me and mine were talking over this subject whilst devouring our sunday bacon n' eggs this morning. There's the point that crops up every time this type of case comes to light.
What was the girl doing putting herself into that situation any way? We don't know all the details, but surely if you let yourself be taken to a blokes room and the drinks are flowing........... As much as I defend her and her rights, at the end of the day, she'd have been a lot safer staying in the bar for drinks.(As would all the other victims of this type of situation.)

God no cookstar! I fully exploit women that are willing to screw in front of a camera, etc. I've got a hard drive that will testify to that. Perhaps thats why I have the opinion on the matter that I do. Whether you are posing semi-nude on FHM or taking a bukaka from 50 men you are still selling the same good/service you have in exchange for other good/services you need.

There are some odd views on scoobynet....

Take Michael Jackson for instance, here we have a man that has had numerous allegations pointed at him over the years, been in court umpteen times, and is without any shadow of a doubt a complete and utter freak, AND, he was accused of child molesting.

But 90- 95% ? of the scoobynet jury voted him innocent.

But, we have 1 post by apparition, with no link to any media/info of any kind, and the guy is being found guilty as charged

Is it not beyond the realms of possibility that this girl did go back to his hotel for some extras, pureley to dupe him, and is now claiming rape hoping for a few quid? After all, she sells "sex" for a living. Ok, maybe she doesn't stand on street corners, but shoving her most intimate body parts into strangers faces for a tenner is about the next best thing.

Speaking for myself only here...

I did say i hadnt even heard the story, but was mearly expressing my views, i have never said anyone was guilty of anything.

Just that men do not have the right to assume a woman should be forced/pressured into anything because of her chosen career.

Im not a p/c idiot standing on high ground here, which i know it must sound like, it just gets my back up when little or no respect is shown to other people.

Tis hard to word it correctly

I know nothing of the story - just expressing my views on the modeling/sex industry in general. There can't be many dads that would be overjoyed at their daughter saying I'm off to be a lapdancer or FHM model. Think about it, would you really be happy at having thousands of pre-pubesent teenagers interfering with themselves in the bathroom over your little princess?

No one would want that though.

But i very much doubt your girlfriends/wifes/partners daddy would approve of some of the things that you do to her

Wow....... certainly opened a Pandora's box here haven't I?
The story is featured in today's Mail. I don't do links but I'm sure those clever enough amongst you can check it out if you so wish.

And Cookstar and Saxoboy...... please shake hands and make up. No way did I ever intend for anyone to get into a spatt about this. It was purely put here as a discussion subject to take part in rather than mow the lawn.

I'm just discussing my opinion - it's not something I'm particularly pasionate about so I'm not fighting with anyone. I'm a believer in letting people get on with things and if peeps want to make money this way they fair play to them but that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to form my own opinion on it

I reckon if I was female and had a great body I would fancy doing some stripping or lap dancing for a fair bit of money. You don't get any hassle in a decent joint and all your doing is letting men who don't even know you look at you, which they'll do in the street anyway or on the beach on holiday.

Money isn't everything and if you go ask someone in countries more relaxed about possessions then they will confirm that and they'll probably be happier than many people in this country. However I was brought up in britain and its made me aspire to own things, I want my own home and I'd love a porsche 911! The second one may never happen but I'd certainly bring the day closer by flashing my body if it was a realistic option for me!

anyone raping a woman should be killed

and also the lap dancer should chose another profession to save her from being ravaged by pigs and vultures like footie players

Lap dancing is "prostitution without penetration"... selling sexual services for money. It makes me laugh when dancers try to justify their jobs as art or performance. The whole point of lap dancing is for the girl to be perceived as sexually available.

If a girl choses that profession then it is up to her to deal with the risks, of course I do not condone rape but it appears this girl put herself in a risky situation.

Gary has a point - who is more likely to be in a situation to get raped. A lapdancer in a seedy club working late at night and going home in the early hours of the morning with drunks around or a 9-5 office worker? Rape isn't right ever but by the same token people should take steps to protect themselves.

The other week I came out the casino and spotted two chavs walking down the road I wanted to go down. I took a longer way home to avoid a potential situation where they might think I've had a big win that can be theirs. I shouldn't have had to do that but that's just me thinking a little clever and taking simple precautions to avoid a situation before it presents itself.
