Can you plug an iPod into your HiFi and record directly onto it via the amp?

If you mean getting songs onto the ipod then yes, computer only. However some other mp3 players do let you record straight onto them from a source, but I'm not sure which ones and how you name the songs / organise them afterwards.

have a look on www.ebuyer.co.uk, they have a load on there

If you guys can help wanna update my mini disc player to something like an iPod or simular but |I need to be able to record from my Hi-Fi.

You need one of those Iriver jobbies then. Or a secondhand Hi-md minidisc off ebay perhaps?
