Cheap flights to Norway!
I normally fly with SAS - not budget, but then again nothing in Norway is...
I went out on Monday this week, and came back on Tuesday - cost about £280 return. It was as budget as you get, buy your own food, etc...

PS: who works for a company based in oslo ...
norwegian airlines go to Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim from Stansted. They fly to Gardermoen in Oslo too, rather than Oslo Torp. God reise
Bergen isn't as bad as Oslo, Bergen is a student town so loads of pubs and places to go. You are looking at anywhere between 3 and 10 quid for a beer, a half litre not a pint, depends where you go. Follow the poor students. A lot of Norwegians (and Scandinavians in general) have a few at home before going out, and most don't go out until 10/11pm.
You can fly Aberdeen to Oslo with http://www.citystarairlines.com for about 255 quid return.
You can fly Prestwick to Torp and it is a 1 hour coach trip from there to Oslo.
If you fly to Oslo it is 20minutes on the express train to the centre.
Fjord lines will take you direct from Newcastle to Bergen but takes approx 24hrs for the passage.
Alcohol: Beer - 60Nok - 0.5 litre Bottle - 33ml - 39 Nok 1 litre bottle - 95 Nok.
Spirits: I havent noticed but I always take my own bottle.
Exchange rate just now is about 12 Nok = 1 GBP
PM me if you want any more details as I am currently assigned in Norway.

Beer in a hotel isn't cheap...
...this week I was paying about £6.50 a half-litre.
Diet coke was £3.50 a bottle, Evian was £2.60 a bottle (small bottle).
If you're thinking of getting a cheaper flight and then a taxi, bear in mind that you're probably looking at about 2 quid a minute to be in a taxi...
Beautiful place though.
