Paintballing - Hints & Tips please.
I've booked a half days paintball-bullet festival as part of my stag weekend. (Newcastle). Good plan? Will the bruises have gone down when I get hitched 6 weeks later?
Hint & Tips please so I don't get slaughtered!

After having organised a day of paintball for my best mates stag do I certainly wouldn't be choosing it for my own stag party
The actual days paintballing was good fun for all. However at the end the stag was made to "run the guantlet" so we could use up the remains of our ammo. Basically we lined up either side of an open area and the stag had to run down the middle while we emptied our paintball guns into him
He was covered in paintball bruises at the end Looked like he had been wrestling an octopus.
So basically it's going to hurt

Oh and if they do packages where buying the paintballs up front is cheaper do it. You will use loads more paintballs than you think on the day. I seem to remember we started with 500 and then had several 100 ball refills to last the day.

Too right I'm gonna run!
I did read on one site about a game called stag hunt - I have to run around wearing antlers...

Not sure about that. The last time I went paintballing, I stuck my head around the side of a bunker and coped a round right on my forehead from 10ft. Ooooooooo, it fecking stung.

reason why i say take gloves is that last time i played, a girl on our team (girls and guns dont mix) shot me in the hand from about 6" away, the hand swelled up like a bitch and bled for the rest of the day.
great fun, always enjoy it and always spend about £100 top day out.

For a stag do buy 3 boxes. Works out cheap as compared to wha tthey charge! I wonder if they would allow it though. All you would need is a couple of people with backpacks on full of paintballs.
Under £1.20 per 100 compared to what they charge.

The guns are coverd under UK airgun laws, so are limited at top wack to 12 ft/lbs. most places run them at about 10 - 11 ft/lbs. So the ball is doing 300 - 320 feet per second!!!!! Thas why in the wrong place it hurts like hell. As for range 50 yards should be obtainable once you have your eye in.
I second the gloves, hat and box armour, either paintball gloves or mountain bike gloves with the armour on the backs.

Great fun!
I've been a few times.
Its like being a kid playing war games again
Just keep moving, keep your wits about you and dont waste ammo - pick your targets.
Wear some thick clothes. I always wear a decent pair of jeans.
Last time I played one of my team shot a lad in the nuts from a metre away.
He was a big lad and it reduced him to a little girl (mind you every bloke winced when we found out, except for the bloke who shot him - he was pi55ing himself)
It's great fun

I wii let you into a secret the guns will only be firing 250 feet per second and thats why you will need loads of money to pay for your paintballs, because at that speed they wizz off all over the place and you will hit naff all. Plus the paint you will be using will be site grade and will have flat spots to make the ***** go different angles.
If the guns fired at 300 feet per second the legal limit believe me it would hurt alot more than you could possibly imagine.
I use to play profesionally and own 3 sites with my brother the only tips I have for you are shoot lots, find a barricade keep as low a profile as possible so try and stick just the barrel out not your whole head.
On the barricade shoot out both sides and vary from top and bottom. Suicide runs are a no no not unless you like pain.
A good day is couple of hundred quid and abide by all the rules.
If you take your own paint they will confiscate it and give it back to you at the end of the day as that is how they make their money, you wouldn't take food to a restaurant or beer to a pub!!!
And never take your goggles off no matter how much they steam up as its not a pretty site when your eyeball explodes!!!!

Other than the aforementioned - the stag do technique of starting paintballing at 9am when 4 hours previously you were still downing whisky is interesting. You sober up during the day.
And watch out for sneaky advice from Marshalls. I got told "act like you've been shot but without holding your gun up in the air, they might leave you alone so you can wander into their base and steal the flag". I tried it, and got into their base. Only problem is 8 of them in the base twigged my deception all at once, - all were about 4 foot away. Subsequent bruises and bleeding from inner thigh area Great fun though.

Still 250 fps is still around the 10 - 11 mark.

If you want to win a few games, try to formulate a plan before each game. The marshalls will usually help you with advice and tactics in the 5 minutes or so available before each scenario begins. If the other team are running around aimlessly as individuals and you're all working to a common purpose it should be easy to win every game. I applied this last time and it was a slaughter
Otherwise, as the others have said, take sensible precautions for injury and always obey the marshalls. Don't be suckered into firing at stuff the marshalls throw around as you walk between games as they are trying to get you using more paint. Likewise don't bother with the target practise area (there usually is one ). If your gun is splurting out paint like a bad sneeze, get a marshall to squee-gee the barrel as you've had a ball burst in there and it clogs it and makes every following ball burst.
Have fun

Be aware that sometimes ***** bounce of you when fired from longer range - so check when you've got hit that it actually burst before admitting death.
Other tip - take an allen key, as a lot of the guns have a regulator on the back (to cover if they're getting low on gas or stop people firing them at full power or something Turn the wick up a bit - your range will increase, and so will other people's pain! not strictly kosher that one
