What to do with an Ostrich egg?
As it says, went out shopping with the children today and ended up at our local farm shop.
And there on the shelf was a huge Ostrich egg.
The woman in the shop said it would last for three weeks and anything you can do with a chickens egg you can do with an ostrich egg.
I recon it's about 20 eggs worth in one go.
Sadly frying is out of the question, don't have a big enough pan and I don't think a scotch egg would work cos it would use too much sausage.
So
What should I do with it..?
Any ideas?

I stayed in a backpackers in South Africa where there was a free ostritch egg to share for breakfast every day! went round a lot of people and made awesome scrambled eggs! only problem is opening them its not the sort of thing you can just tap on the side of a bowl. Don't quote me on this but i think you can stand on them without them breaking
Good luck!! how much was it btw??

£10, which is a lot of money for an egg.
But a small price to pay for the excitement I'm experiencing.
It's so big it's making my teeth itch!
Don't know if I can bring myself to break it.

Make a hole in both ends.. put a straw from a drink carton in one end and blow..
collect yolk etc and cook as you wish..
give intact shell to kids to keep.. v. cool for 'show & tell' type sessions at school...
apparently 1 ostrich egg = 24 chicken eggs!!
you can make a scotch egg.. http://www.blogjam.com/2005/05/15/scotch-ostrich-egg/
