CAUGHT SPEEDING IN AN EVO?

CAUGHT SPEEDING IN AN EVO?
I was driving along the Glenshane Pass 2 weeks ago, about 2 in the afternoon, with a golf in front, and a Merc behind, cruising about 65. Next thing i look in my rear view and there's a nice blue evo all over my back bumper. He kept doing the usual pulling to the right to see if it was clear to pass, and i thought i would play along too, so at the next clear stretch me and my mondeo TDDi have the indicator on before him, and we're past the Golf,. Next thing i know I'm doing 100 and he goes by like im sitting still, all over the chevrons!
Guess what happened next! Around the next bend the police have 1 guy already pulled in and are stepping out to stop the Evo too.
Felt sorry for him, but at the same time was having a wee chuckle to myself!
Dont know if they had a camera on him or not, but i would say he was at least at 120, dont know if the cops could do him or not with no camera?

If you mean Mitsubishi Evo then you have posted in the wrong forum. You want the Mitsubishi Lancer Register for your post.
You say you felt sorry for him. Circa 120mph is pushing it a little on a public road (that's 2 miles per minute). Nasty mess if he were to lose it, methinks.

Forgot to mention it was clear visibilty and bone dry, so unless he was to suffer sudden heart failure or the like then the chances of him losing it were pretty slim IMO

Bet you feel really good
OK, he didn't have to speed up still further to overtake you but once committed to overtaking you & you continuing to accelerate, then he is in a dangerous position. You have endangered both him & you & other road users by your stupid "I thought I would play along too" - ie road racing.
Both that & speeding up when being overtaken are against the highway code & admitting to that on a public BBS just shows everyone what a prat you have been. Shame the coppers didn't see you & do you for dangerous driving.
I too know the Glenshane Pass, the most fun to be had is when it snows

I didn't get the impression that he continued to accelerate after the overtake from his post, Puff, merely that the Evo driver decided he was going to take both whatever the speed.

I've taken it from the "and i thought i would play along too" bit & based on the "and we're past the Golf ,. Next thing i know I'm doing 100 and he goes by like im sitting still, all over the chevrons!" bit.
That says to me that he overtook the Golf, pulled back in & still continued to accelerate (hard) whilst the Evo is starting to overtake him.
It was obvious to this driver that the Evo was pressing on & he deliberately decided to "play" and see what happened, whereas he should've o/taken the Golf, pulled back in & backed off to let the Evo to go past, quickly/safely & then chuckled when he got tugged. But not this chap - chose instead to "see what would happen if he tried it on against an obviously more powerful car.
& the bit where he is over the chevrons - that in the middle of the road I presume? Can't recall them on the side of the road. So if that is the case, he has further caused danger as chevrons usually mean the separation of the road coming up to a junction, which could've had a mini-bus full of school kids just about to pull out.
I re-iterate - foolish behaviour by the author.
Sorry Bubba, thats how I see it.

This sort of thing pisses me off , if he wants to come pass why get in his way when you are ambling along at 65mph ? If it had been you only on the road, are you the sort that when someone dares to overtake they get the flash and wave gestures.

Never said I was but there are certain instances where driving like a tit stands out & I think this is one of them.

Bubba, I see Hades has been a kind soul and been to see Lucifer to get the answer you wanted. To be honest I don't deal in furlongs anymore as her indoors prefers inches instead :
Back on topic I think the original poster is lucky not to have been pulled as well but he either has bottle or isn't thinking straight to come on here bragging about it. He could have just let the Evo go by on his business. How many of us Scooby drivers have seen this very same dangerous and senseless game played on us when all we were trying to do was to make safe progress past lesser machinery whose drivers then believe they have a right to obstruct safe passage.
A bit strong, perhaps, but I get this done to me too often for my liking. Farkin To$$ers!
