Default Barking Dogs

FFS do the irresponsible owners not realise what a ****ing noise they make?

Just gone 10 and I can still hear the fukcers. I would put money on it, they will be barking again at 6am in the morning?

Can I shoot them with my dads air rifle?

Dave

Yaking dogs are a real pain & the owners of barking dogs make no effort to shut them up, !! you can report them to the Rspca if they are not being looked after or its the council for noise etc, which takes forever with you logging the noise each day Etc & the council isssuing letters , Blah Blah,
Good Luck

It has to be one of the most annoying sounds. We have three near us. They are taken out regularily, and well looked after. BUT, the 2 which live together start up at around 3.30 each day ...inside the house.....and end up trying to out howl each other. We live several doors away so what it must be like to live next door is anyone's guess. I've often been tempted to slip an anoymous note thru' their door....but then the bladdy dogs would probably eat it!

A barking dog can be considered a statutory noise nuisance and the Council can serve a noise abatement notice on the owner if nothing is done to stop persistent barking. If you are disturbed by a neighbour's dog, tell them about the problem as they may not know that their dog is barking when they are absent. If they are not prepared to take action, the Council will try to solve the problem informally at first.

They will assess whether the problem is a statutory nuisance but you have to keep a detailed record with....
  • The time of day or night the dog is barking.
  • How long it goes on for.
  • How often it happens.
I had this problem with a neighbour years ago, when they left a Springer Spaniel chained up in their garden and never allowed it in the house.

If you put in an official complaint to the council then any search will uncover this fact when you come to sell your house. It may affect your property value

Moved house 3 weeks ago. Its a very private plot with some lovely tall bushes and trees aligning the rear perimeter. Next door sits further back than ours so we can see the whole of their side wall from our rear garden. I noticed recently that some birds appear to be nesting in their roof! I cleaned the poo off my conservatory roof on Saturday. Yesterday I noticed at leased 8 fresh droppings had appeared
I think I'll let the neighbours know that they are not the only occupants of their property

Also, I awoke the other morning to find a pigeon pearched on the top of my open window with its **** pointing at me!! . The price of buying a property amongst many plantations I suppose.

They are only doing thier job but i am worried what the neighbours may think saying that their cats sh*t all over our lawns so sod em!

only joking but what can we do?

I had a problem with a noisy dog (of course the problem is the owner not the dog). She used to let to dog out just after midnight every night and let it bark for 10-20 minutes. My mum had a word with the neighbour to ask if she could try and keep the dog quiet but was told "It's what dogs do".

To cut a long story short Mum & Dad went away for a weekend and I put Michael Jacksons Thriller album on repeat at full blast for the entire weekend with the speakers up agaiunst the neighbours bedroom wall.

The woman seemed to manage to control Fido after that .

ps She came round to complain to my Mum when she got back and was told It's what teenagers do .

I don't see a muzzle stopping them barking, they still need to be able to open their mouth enough to pant / drink. If our mutt is barking a lot, I just make him sit and hold his mouth shut with my hands for a couple of mins and tickle his ears. He can pull away from me if he wants to, but it usually just calms him down.

I'll beat all your noisy dogs etc.
One morning woke up by a noise like a water buffalo doing the can-can on the roof of the house. Honestly thought what ever it was would come through the ceiling. Then there was an almighty scream from up there. Wife volunteered me to go and find out what was causing it.
A bloody peacock Guy next door had got one and a few pea-hens and they had decided to go walkabout. He came and got it back so I showed him the psycho dog telling him next time the peacock escaped it would probably be returned as a hat.

If anyone does have problems with neighbours with noisy dogs, then please do what the council ask keep a record of times and dates etc It does work.

We had already complained to the neighbour a million times she took no notice, everytime she went out they barked non stop from about 6am saturday to 11pm sunday night. All through saturday and sunday and these were great big st bernards!

Eventually the council came out and counted the barks and measured the Db while she was out then issued her with a court order :-)

The day she got the letter she went absoloutly fruit loop came over to our house (guessed it was us who complained) and did lots of shouting until my sister chucked her off our drive. Police turned up to arrest my sister for assault but nothing ever came of it.

Result? One neighbour who doesn't come near our house and keeps her dogs quite :-)

Dont give up!

Our dog starts sometimes when he is in the garden - I open the door and throw a small glass of water over him - It soon shuts him up. He used to bark from the cat flap when people walked past too so I put some masking tape over it.

I too hate dogs barking!!!!

But we can't chuck a bucket of water over the poor dog! I don't blame him, he's a sweet thing. It's the owners! They've gone out to work and left him in the garden with a conservatory as shelter. Not nice.

Clare,

In this weather I think the dog would probably appreciate a bucket of water I would consider calling the RSPCA if the dog is being left in a conservatory though, especially if he doesn't have any water... or you can't see that he has access to water if you take my meaning

A water pistol may work though. I only tend to wet ours in the warm weather too. it is worth a shot - Especially with the warm weather.

If its a Rough Collie, especially mine, I wouldn't bother with water from a hose etc, he loves it and barks like a loon while playing in the water jet. Usually up on his back legs trying to catch the water
