Default [rock music] Audioslave - Out of Exile

Anyone else into this at the moment? I picked it up a couple of weeks ago and popped it in the CD player in the scoob. First impressions were that the first track was a belter but they seemed to have mellowed a bit. Played it again and thought, "This is getting better, definitely growing on me". After the third and fourth play-throughs, this second offering gets full marks and is right up there with the first album. It's now becoming hard to find a duff track which, at first play, I thought there were a few. The music is subtle, builds to a climax with a lot more prominence given to the bass guitar. I'd give it 10/10 and recommend it.

I agree with that Marc, the style seems to be more laid back but they are still kicking out some great sounds. The 2nd album does take a short while to grow on you -- the first time I listened to it I was thinking that they had gone in the direction of Chris Cornell's solo effort -- the name of it doesn't spring to mind even though I own it, which tells you how good it was!!! Thankfully they haven't and I hope they don't go that direction! The new album isn't as immediate as the first but after a few spins around the player, it really grows on you and I've been playing it non-stop now for over a week.

Prefer the 2nd album to the first, and the first one was bloody good

You're a lucky man Doc, they are playing here at Montreux (with Isis and Trail of Dead) in July but the timing is all wrong for me to go see them

I still miss the anger of RATM and the hard grind of Soundgarden

LOL@chrome. As for Soundgarden, Badmotorfinger and Superunknown were great albums but Down on the Upside wasn't particularly memorable IMHO.
