Speed limits for vans??
Im driving a works transit van at the moment - usual sort you see on the road, short-wheel-base normal T280.
I drive this at normal car speeds, however a friend was recently pulled over in one on a duel carrigeway for speeding, and the policeman told him the limit for medium vans and up is:
50mph max on single-carrigeway
60mph max on duel-carrigeway
70mph max motorway
Anyone know if this is correct? I assumed Transit sized vans could do 60 on SC and 70 on DC??

If it is smaller than a 7.5 tonner, it needs no Tacho and conforms to car speed limits. If you passed your test recently, you can no longer drive a 7.5 tonner on you car license and even if you have grandfather rights here, you don't in Europe!

The policeman is very much correct. Small vans upto 2000kg are classed as cars, over 2000kg-7500kg then the limits you mention above apply.
See here for proof:-

They should introduce the same lower limits for Range Rovers, Toerags and other 2000-7500kg vehicles; that'd get people back into sensibly weighted cars

My mate (who's driven a van for about 10 years as part of his job) only found this out when he got stopped doing 80 on a DC. Just goes to show, we could all stand to read the Highway Code more often!
