Default TPS? Stopping telemarketing calls

All

Is TPS the service to stop unsolicited calls to your home etc?
I also wanted to stop junk mail but can't see that service on the TPS website ?
Any ideas ?

Ro.

I think its just phone calls.

I signed up last year as i was getting around 3 calls a night, within a month that dropped to 1 a week. One year on and i'm back to about 3 a week now

Yes TPS is the one you need for stopping telephone calls although it isnt 100 pct efficient.

Edited to add that it doesnt stop International calls which is all I seem to get now - on computer diallers - really really annoying.

We signed up for the TPS at work, it worked for about six months, but now we are being bombarded by poxy Indian call centres.

Just incase Mr. Fred Singh is an avid follower of Scoobby net, NO! I do not want to buy cheap office supplies!

There is also a junk fax service available, and that one has worked without fail. The ink and paper in my printer has lasted me three times as long as it used to.

Thumbs up

thumbs up for fps here as well.
We used to come in monday morning to a fax roll worth of ring tone/discount holiday/joke calls numbers/car leasing ****e every week plus nearly as much during the week it has virtually disappeared now.

Now if i can only stop the w anchors from trying to sell me mobile phone packages and those unbelievably arrogant American w anchors selling junk bonds and shares.
How do they sell anything with such a bad attitude they almost shout down the phone at you

I've found TPS to work pretty well, but have recently noticed a bit of an increase in sales calls.

For £4 per month, BT will block all calls from people who withold their number. Apparently the caller gets a message along the lines of "Sorry. The person you are calling will not accept anonymous calls."

Onetel kept bugging me on my mobile from Indian call centres, despite me being on the TPS. I then reported them to TPS and a couple of weeks later got another phone call from them, but this time from the MD's office apologising. It does work...

Ive been registered with them for about a year now and tbh I dont get a lot of unsolicited calls, when I do I mention that im registered with tps and they hang up.

I havent had a call back from any in weeks/months, so I fully recommend them.

Or get yourself a phone with CLI. Anything that comes up 'Witheld' or 'Intl', don't answer it.
