Whats the penalty for...
...failing to display any number plates on your car?
Not that I would condone this kind of behaviour - just interested to know!

£30 fixed penalty, no point's, but if you keep doing it (and get caught) they can take your plate of you, and issue you with a "Q" plate.

With no points it's almost an invitation for speedsters to take them off and avoid any camera stuff? Then pop them back on with a bit of Velcro when you park up somewhere.

Yep go on holiday remove front plate, write on a scrap of paper put in window, laugh at scameras, if pulled you have made attempts by showing in front window. No documents so cannot be renewed till you get home.

I must admit my front plate falls off when i go somewhere unknown (most unfortunate). Tax disc seems to fall off the windscreen too. Most odd

Tax disc still visible just not from scamera!
What about if some dirt was magically lined up over the numbers on the tax disc? It would still be readable in person...
Anyway it's only a problem if stopped, and i have no problem being stopped by traffic police - i just don't wanna get raped by some hidden revenue collector.

What about placing the tax disc in the window in such a way that the wiper blades obscure the reg number. I dont think the camera would have enough resolution to read the bar code.
