Despite being registered with the TPS I am still receiving direct marketing calls on my home phone and have received 27 from one number over the last 3 weeks (I'm never in but my answerphones going into meltdown). Any way I can check who's number it is without actually calling (and i.e. not costing me money)

Is there a search facility to put names to numbers? Its a London code...

Just had another one same number, its obviously a dialler or call centre as no-one was there when I answered.

sounds like it auto dials several numbers then whoever is the first to pick up it connects to and dis-connects the others. Maybe the only way off their list is to accept the call quick make sure your first and tell em to 'stop ******* ringing me please' and see if that works mate

I keep getting an 0800 number calling my mobile (both lines) then it cuts off if I answer them.
Also text spam adverts, and towards the end of EVERY month, mobile phone companies calling and saying as i am near the end of my contract am I interested in a free upgrade or some crap like that.

Both lines on my mobile are registered with the TPS and have been for quite some time, and it has not made the slightest bit of difference.

Ditto for the home phone- about 10 times a day, i listen to the answerphone message run through, then *click* they hang up without leaving a message and its a withheld number. Home phone is also listen with TPS and has been for years.

Dont even get me started on sodding cold callers at the door- trying to sell cheap *** UPVC crap windows- its an old house with original features. Do you really need half a brain cell to work out that plastic will look SH*TE and not exactly go with the rest of the house. idiots.

If you find out who they are OFCOM can actually sue them. Its a legal requirement for direct marketing callers to scan their database against TPS info.
