Got stopped by the police for being a terrorist today!
Picture the scene, a rather tired astraboy is driving back through London after Subliminal Discharge (Hardcore Techno and Breakcore night in Brixton) this morning at about 8.30. I am driving my Carlton GSI.
Not paying much attention to where I am going I turn down Horseguards Ave. to get onto Whitehall, and am promptly flagged down by a lot of police and my car is directed into a bay made out of traffic cones.
I am appraoched by a police officer who tells me I have been stopped under Sec.44 of the Terrorist act which apparantly enables them to stop and search anyone to prevent acts of terrorism.
I am asked to step out of the car. I am asked to open the boot and the bonnet then move away. Two policemen then turn over my car while a third talks to me and fills in the paperwork.
Talking to a dog tired, sweat soaked Hardcore raver dressed in orange combat trousers and a hoody cant be the most enjoyable pastime a police man can do, but I try my hardest to be polite, even though I was interruped going home to my bed and in return he is civil to me.
As the two officers turn my car over, the one talking to me takes my name, address, and description, I am also asked to define my ethnic background. I chose white.
I have a bit of a flap when I realise I have my AE86 diff wrapped in a plastic bag on the back seat, but its all cool after I explain what it is and they let me on my way after giving me a copy of the search form and turning over the boot and having a look under the bonnet.
I drive off, glad that I am not a terrorist. Which is ironic when I left my wallet in the car to be searched and on the front of it has the following logo:
You gotta love the boys in blue and their observation skills havent you?
astraboy.

Seems to be their 'catch all', however these days I guess it's more understandable.
I used to have long hair, and I was stopped and searched under that act in a tiny little town down south (where I lived, and all the cops knew and disliked me) 17 years ago! Okay, there was the IRA about then but come on!

You're lucky. I've been stopped in daylight hours, kept waiting for over an hour had my car totally searched and accused of driving a stolen vehicle all because the coppers felt like it. This was years before all this terrorist nonsense.
