in london 2moro - getting from LHR to VICTORIA?
hi folks
arriving into LHR tomorrow morning at 8.30, need to be in victoria for 9.30.
can someone please give me an idea of how realistic this is to make on the tube (and cost of ticket) versus a taxi? surely this is peak time and things will be busy either way.
cheers
steven

Its a bit close.
The Piccadily line runs from Heathrow, you would need to catch this to South Kensington and then change to a circle/district line.
London underground map is here - http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/pdfdocs/colourmap.pdf
No i dea how long it would take. But i think it would be close. If you took a taxi I'm not sure how bad traffic would be at 9am.
London underground reckon it will take 40 mins from LHR to south Kensington and then another 5 mins from south kensington.
Which gives you 15 minutes to exit the plane, jump on a train (hopefully they'll be one waiting for you) and enough time to change platforms at South Kensington.

If you absolutely have to be there. Take the Heathrow Express to Paddington and a taxi from Paddington to your destination.
If you flight lands at 8:30 its going to take 5-10 mins to reach the stand, 5-10 for you get off the plane and walk through the terminal. So you're looking at 8:40 - 8:50 to get outside the terminal.
You can get on a tube which takes 45 mins to Central London call it 50 mins to Victoria, changing from the Piccadilly line to the District line at Hammersmith, so 9:30 can easily be missed.
Taking a cab straight from the airport might just get you there, but crawling in down the A4 isn't great, admittedly you will be using the bus lanes to make progress. It is a better bet than the tube in my opinion, but you may only have 40 mins to do the drive, and 10 mins of that can be easily taken up just getting out of the airport in the rush hour.
The fastest option, I think is Heathrow Express and cab. Trains leave every 15 mins, and take 15 mins to Paddington. You'll be at Paddington at 9:20am at the latest (assuming you just miss a train and have to wait the full 15 mins for the next train), and a cab should get you from Paddington to Victoria in 10-15 mins tops. Don't take a tube from Paddington, as it will take 30 mins at least.
If anyone disagrees feel free to contradict me but I'm fairly sure I'm correct here........

I've got a nasty feeling the Heathrow Express isnt running from the terminal area, because of T5 works. You'll probably have to get a taxi from there to Hatton Cross, and the Heathrow Express to Paddington.
I can't see you getting into your taxi before 9am, if your plane does arrive at 08:30.
If thats the case, I don't think you'll make it.
Sorry.
