Born without a face
Last night I watched, and was deeply touched by, Five's 'Born without a face', telling the story of Juliana Wetmore who was born missing 30-40% of her facial bone structure (a birth defect called Treacher Collins syndrome) and is regarded as the most extreme case known to date.
Totally glued to the television for the entire 60 minute programme, with my 11-week old daughter perched on my lap, words just cannot describe the bravery of little Juliana and the love and dedication shown by her parents as they consult with specialists and find additional funds so that operations can be performed. Corrective surgery that will probably follow Juliana into her twenties.
My own daughter has recently been causing me frustration by choosing to cry and play-up just as I get in from work each day. Seeing someone as amazing as Juliana and her family really does put everything into perspective.
Jonty.

I watched most of it (ER came on) certainly very moving. The poor lass has a lot to endure in the future.
I must admit to my first thoughts when I walked in the room and saw it on the TV was "Hey you guys !"

For those who didn't get to see the programme last night, although not from Five itself, the following link will play you a 5 minute US news item in your Windows Media Player.
'Work safe' but please be aware that some of the images can be quite shocking. After the 'Ford' intro the main feature should auto-start.

I caught the last 5 minutes of it last night. Absolutely incredible family and a desperately sad state of affairs
I'm not sure I could have watched the whole thing. Show me blood, guts, the whole works and I won't bat an eyelid but where children are concerned it's a different matter. It certainly makes you appreciate what you have.
