Private Reg - Transfer
I know this question has been asked before, but all the V forms and stuff is confusing :0/
SO here's the deal...
I have got a car with a private plate on it and I'm going looking at cars this weekend ( 2nd hand ). If I find the right car I'm hoping todo the deal... Now as I'm wanting to keep my plate whats the process!
Will the garage/dealer transfer the plate over for me....?
If not what will I need todo...? Put the plate on retention, wait for the reg/plates for my car and then do the deal, and then finally swap my plate onto the new car...!
Cheers in advance...

Give the garage £80 and ask them to sort it, much easier. Otherewise it will cost you £120 to put on retention, send your V5 off, wait two weeks to come back. In the meantime you'll pick up your new car and have to wait till your retention certificate comes back, then all the hassle again.
The DVLA will accept a photocopy of the tax disk from a garage who have online Tax Disc processing, so makes it much more straightforward.
