Default Potential Fraud

Hi,

Got a horrible feeling I may have been stung for £200 through the for sale forum on a well known site.

Just wondering if it's worth reporting to the police is things do not progress?
All I have is name, bank account details, and possibly an address, oh and £200 less in my bank account lol. Wired the money through on line banking (LTSB) - is this likely to cover me for fraud (can't see anything on the website)?

Hopefully it's just me being paranoid but can anyone give me any advice?

Why do you feel you've been had? Has the buyer disappeared?

Yeah been 9 days since payment and not had any communication from the seller.

Was starting to get a bit concerned, then someone who had purchased goods from the same seller contacted me today, and he had also heard nothing.

I know some people take a while to get round to thing but to not hear anything at all? Hopefully they've just gone somewhere on holiday!

Wasn't sure whether to say which site but don't suppose it really matters! I think it was called http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk
But obviously it is not really anything to do with Scoobynet, it's between me and the seller and potentially the police. But as I said I think it's too early to do anything yet as it's only been 9 days and there could be a legitimate reason.

Thanks for that number, I'll give it a bit longer and hopefully I won't have to use it! Just trying to prepare for the worst case scenario.

update (sort of) :

Well this guy has obviously ripped me off (and I'm not the only one).

I spoke to my bank, and they said that if I still haven't heard anything after 30 days they can transfer the money back. Does that sound right?

I assume they can get the money back from the tw@ts bank then, even if the account has been frozen?

I'm well pissed off. Got his address so might pay him a visit with a few mates.

Jamie,

Yeah m8 think I'm in a similar position to yourself as I too have transferred money by internet banking to this guy and have heard absolutely f-all.

I'd like to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, if he's on holiday or something, but I fear I've been stung.

Let me know if you find anything out please m8.

Ross

It's north of London so a bit of a way from me but I'd love to see what he's got to say for himself. I knew I'd been had when he started selling stuff on the MLR about a week after people on here had stopped hearing from him. He then had the audacity to tell people on the MLR that the person on here was not him - yeah right, bit of a coincedence that they were both called Kevin Chan!
The weird thing is he has actually sold a car to someone on here a couple of months ago.

I noticed from the other thread about the car. How about getting his number from that other guy and giving him a call, see what he has to say !
