I'm screwed then.. do callout 24/7 every third week and take into account just a standard 37.5 hours for the other 2 weeks in 3 (not including the extra hours they get out of me).. my average hours per week over a year is just over 80.. not Still, pays for the scoob I guess (at least for now)

Hmmm.... I do callout as well, usually 1 week in 5. Don't want to panic anyone, but the only way that I can see for 24x7 cover which will fit in with this is to introduce shift work. Or have all out of hours covered by workers abroad.

Depends if they mean working after called or 'standby' time where you are not working but 'can be called'.

I'm on-call one week in three but the amount of time spent actually working is low as I don't tend to get too many calls.

On average about 40% of my annual wage is made up of overtime. I’d like to see these EU bureaucrats lead a reasonable life style in the UK on a basic £20K a year.

People rely on their overtime to buy the houses/cars/holidays they want, who are they to say what people can earn. I was on standby from 8am on Saturday until 8am on Sunday and I was out for 22hours of it, it was knackering at the time but it’s probably paid for this years summer holiday.

I really hope this doesn't come in. I also do a lot of overtime, and if I had to go to a basic wage I'd be screwed.

Why can't they just people do what they want? No one ever forced me to work overtime, it's my own choice to do it. Some guys just do the basic hours, but those that want to earn good money do the overtime. It's all fair.
