Foreign car - re-register?
If I buy a car registered in Europe do I have to get it re-registered in the UK or can I insure it while keeping French/Belguim etc plates on it?

I think if it is going to be in the UK for the majority of the time, then you have to register it in the UK. Just going on what I have seen happen with foreign colleagues that have brought their cars over.

I know there's a big fine for keeping a foreign registered car in Portugal for more than six months, something like 5000 euros. Of course, as it's the Brits and Dutch that do this, the police see easy money.
