Where I live the conservatives have a 30% majority. Good.
Hopefully it will weed out the pikeys further - there has been a 3.5% swing to conservative.

What did anyone expect from the "great" British public, by definition 50% of voters are below average intellectually. Add to that the large numbers of people receiving benefits for doing nothing who vote Labour and the Tories never stood a chance.
But how refelective of modern society the result is. A celebration of mediocrity, an endorsement that telling half truths or lies is OK.
In a way it is a good thing, the cracks are appearing in the economy and Labour will get exposed for the shysters that they really are.

Unfortunately, i think the numbers do matter. A small majority - ineffective government, and the higher possibility of Brown taking over sooner; in my opinion a tragedy in the making for the UK. NL were *so* lucky to have the election at this time - see how it's looking in 6 months' time, it might not be the bed of roses you've been convinced into thinking it is...

I was pissed off when I got up this morning cos I knew they had done it
But my constituency was also a conservative gain so hopefully things might be looking up!

Could happen, yes. The property market will be one casualty, but the wider economy as a whole could suffer. To see that in terms of a specifically Tory casualty seems strange, unless you're suggesting all Labour supporters aren't home owners, but if it suits your story, go with it i guess...

No Diablo I've never voted tory and will never vote tory as I'm opposed to them ideologically.
Neither am I a New Labour supporter. I just voted for who I thought would benefit my selfish interests the most.

I voted for a property crash and financial turmoil which I believe will be the result of another 5yrs of NL. In fact had the tories have got in I believe the same would have happened anyway, it's just that it will hopefully be worse under NEW LABOUR.
The reason that this would be good for me is that I realised most of my portfolio at the peak of the property market. This makes me a cash rich buyer ready to scoop up some bargains when the real crash happens.
Going on my 'Porsche scale' of gain I'm at around the secondhand 996 C4/993RS stage of clear profit. A few more months should see me well into 996 Turbo/GT3/997 territory.

Fair enough. On balance you're probably right, but i don't think there's much between them regarding the fate of the UK economy, and as such, i'd rather vote for who serves my day-to-day needs best, rather than speculate on their relative longer-term incompetence!
