Question Help! Exhibition logistics!

The wife and her foundation course mates have a final exhibition on june 9th..
They are tasked with providing base level food and drink for approx 300 people

So my questions are:
  • Where is the best place to go for wine, on or offline (ie: NOT blue nun/ Lambrini etc., but CHEAPish)
  • where to go for Bulk adult nibbles (nuts, pretzels etc etc.)
  • Glass hire
Any advice is welcome

Don't some of the supermarkets claim to offer free glass hire? I'm sure I've seen something in Tesco.

I had a look on Tesco website - but could find no mention of glass hire

cw42: Cheers, might be an idea...
Fwiw- I hold a MAKRO card (similar to cash and carry) but they still charge the vat so works out just as much as the supermarket..
How does yours work>?

Wine is easy to get but depends on how much you want to spend. One glass each would be 75 bottles and plenty of super markets have wine for around £3.00 per bottle. Wine boxes might be a better way to as it would be alot easier without having to open them etc. For glasses you might consider buying plastic as you can just chuck em afterwards rather than having to count them and box them back up.
If you want some DECENT wine boxes I could price some for you but for bottles cheapest I do is 3.50 plus VAT per bottle. (might get cheaper at Tesco but not as good) Plenty of companies do table and glass hire just find one close to you. I could tell you the name of one I use on Monday but yellow pages would be faster.

Think your biggest problem might be planning what food you will serve and how you will serve it. What budget do you have and is it buffet/sitdown meal/just nibbles remember there is a time limit on buffet food which won't be a problem if it is just savoury snacks. Remember lots of people will want soft drinks so plenty of orange juice and do you have a fridge, ice machine or freezer to store bags of ice in if you buy some.

You can also haggle for bulk discounts at most Tescos if you give them enough notice.

No good!! Liam swapped his van for 150 chunky knit sweaters from Dagger Dave, he's moved on now.
